News & Press Releases - [Main Index] Anritsu leads testing of emerging technologies supporting the evolution of Next Generation Mobile Communications 2008-02-01 Mobile World Congress - Barcelona 11th February 2008: As a leading provider of "end-to-end" test, measurement and monitoring solutions for the mobile communications industry, Anritsu will be demonstrating solutions based on years of experience as a world leading provider of 3G test solutions and how the company is addressing emerging technologies such as LTE, HSPA Evolution, MIMO, WiMAX, high speed optical and IP networks and how Anritsu supports the competitive delivery of Next Generation Networks.Anritsu Corporation has contributed to the development and the rapid growth of global W-CDMA services, by providing comprehensive and market leading test solutions for network operators, terminal vendors, and BTS (Base Transceiver Station) vendors. As a result of the complexity of W-CDMA, the development, integration, conformance and inter-operability testing of mobile terminals has increased in importance and Anritsu has been providing cutting-edge, market leading, solutions to address these testing needs. The MD8480C Signalling Tester, with our PTS and RTD Protocol Test Solutions, are acknowledged as being market leading for testing R99, R5, R6 versions of the specifications. Comprehensive test capability, such as the full coverage of HSDPA, HSUPA categories and data rates, combined with the high reliability, quality and usability has ensured this continued leadership. The 3GPP standard is evolving to meet future subscribers’ needs and requirements for a diversified service, starting with the introduction of HSPA Evolution (R7), which is an advanced, high-speed version of HSPA, and then moving onto the step change which is LTE. The LTE specification is currently being developed, with completion expected by the end of 2008. LTE will provide an all-new wireless communication technology that adopts new techniques such as OFDMA and MIMO for its wireless system and is based on an all IP network. Anritsu has been participating actively in the 3GPP standardization of these new technologies at the same time as working closely with the major chipset and terminal developers. By taking this approach Anritsu will uniquely provide both market-leading HSPA Evolution and LTE test solutions, on time, to assist our customers in meeting their goals. Anritsu combines this with class-leading IP network test, OSS and monitoring solutions to provide complete Next Generation Network coverage. Evidence that Anritsu is already meeting these goals can be seen from the 2007 commercialization of both a LTE Signal Generator (MG3700A) and a Signal Analyzer (MS2690A series). Additionally, Anritsu will release HSPA Evolution options for both these products in 2008. During early 2008, chipset companies and terminal vendors are expected to require HSPA Evolution protocol test tools. To address this Anritsu will provide a complete R7 (including HSPA Evolution) upgrade to the highly successful MD8480C. This upgrade is designed to meet our customers’ requirements and timescales, and will provide further value for those with an investment in the MD8480C. Throughout 2008, Anritsu will introduce HSPA Evolution test solutions for development, integration, conformance and inter-operability, and will provide these as a stepping-stone to the Anritsu LTE protocol test solution. Anritsu will be commercializing its NEW MD8430A LTE Signalling Tester later in the year when the specifications are expected to be mature. In advance of the commercialization of the MD8430A, Anritsu is already partnering with market leading customers on their initial test requirements.
